Why are calls between 087 numbers free?
Isn't it hard to believe that South Africa has VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) services that could mean that calls are free? We are so used to paying an arm and a leg for telephone calls that people are wary of trusting VOIP services that offer them great deals and huge savings.
How does VOIP work?
VOIP converts speech into data packages that are sent over the Internet, where normal telephone calls carry the audio over telephone circuits. Because these data networks only use a small amount of data, the Internet calls are a lot cheaper than what we’re paying for normal telephone calls.
Calls made to Telkom and other mobile service providers:
With VOIP products and services, you are still able to receive calls from Telkom and all the other mobile service providers in South Africa.
The major advantage of VOIP:
- Calls made to Mobile numbers are up to 35% cheaper
- International calls are much cheaper than you are paying now
- Calls to 087 numbers are free
There's really no reason why you shouldn't be switching to VOIP services in South Africa. Major advances are being made with built-in features becoming readily available around the country.
Very cheap (and even free) VOIP calls are already a reality!
Omnicom aims to be the premium provider of Voice over IP services and peripherals on the African Continent. We don't send the call overseas and then route it back to South Africa. Our calls are routed directly from our South African backbone. Read our VOIP F.A.Q's to answer all your questions and contact us. |
